Velankanni railway station is a terminal station in Velankanni town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies at the end of a 10 kilometre long Nagapattinam - Velankanni broad gauge line. The foundation stone of the line was laid in 1999 and it was completed in 2010 at a cost of Rs. 48 crores.[2] The station belongs to the Tiruchirappalli railway division of Southern Railway zone.

Trains

As of June 2015, daily DEMU trains run from Velankinni to Nagapattinam and also to Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry. 16185/16186 Velankanni Express is a daily overnight Express train that links Velankanni to Chennai Egmore. 17315/17316 Vasco Velankanni Express runs once in a week between Velankinni and Vasco da Gama in Goa.
