Monastery of Christ the Word

The Monastery of Christ the Word is a priory of the English Benedictine Congregation (EBC) located in Macheke, Zimbabwe, within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Harare. The monastery is a daughter house of Ampleforth Abbey, whose monks formed the community in 1996 at the invitation of Archbishop Chakaipa and his fellow Zimbabwean bishops, who were desirous of a monastic presence in their country.

Today, the monastic community is made up of 3 solemnly professed monks of Ampleforth and two simply professed Zimbabwean monks, living according to the Rule of St. Benedict.
