Excerpt
Excerpt: The Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring program (ADAM) measures the extent of drug use in the high-risk population of people who have been arrested and booked or detained. The data are collected in participating counties through probability-based sampling of male arrestees in adult booking facilities and purposive sampling of female arrestees and juvenile detainees. Information comes from interviews and urinalyses obtained voluntarily and recorded confidentially in booking facilities, usually on the day of arrest and always within 48 hours of arrest.
