Introduction: In examining this topic, several definitions are necessarv to identifv both the boundaries and the focus ofthe discussion. Of particular importance are the definitions of the terms, agricultural waste and hazardous. In the context of this paper, agricultural wastes are defined as the residues from the growing and first processing of raw agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, dairy products, and crops. They are the nonproduct outputs of production and processing that may contain material that can benefit man but whose economic values are less than the cost of collection, transportation, and processing for beneficial use. Agricultural wastes can be in the form of liquids, slurries, or solids. Agricultural solid wastes are the focus of this paper.
