Excerpt: Executive Summary Purpose and Background At the request of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Toxicology Program (NTP)/National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) organized and conducted an independent and open peer review aimed at evaluating the scientific evidence on reported low-dose effects and dose-response relationships for endocrine disrupting chemicals in mammalian species that pertain to assessments of effects on human health. The peer review took place in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, on October 10-12, 2000. The members of the peer review organizing committee are listed in Table 1.
