Excerpt: The economy of Bangladesh is predominantly agrarian. Situated in the delta of the Bay of Bengal, the country is agroclimatically suited to crop production. With a land area of 147 570 km2, the country supports about 132 million people and the annual growth rate of the population is 1.50 percent per annum.
